The Bridge

Can anybody see the bridge?
We've been traveling for days just to see her.
They say you should never burn bridges down.
Unless something bad is on the other side to get you.

I don't know. I don't know what's on the other side.
I've never been to a bridge like this before.
I say I don't know what's on the other side...
Good? Evil? or just a different road of life to travel on.
All in all, I like the road I'm on now.
I know the trails, the short cuts, the sink holes.
I am comfortable here.

Hey, who's that standing on the bridge?
He's holding some kind of key.
I wonder if you need a key to cross over?
I'll ask...
"Hey mister, what's the key for?"
"In order to travel to the other side
you will need it. but be brave.
Uncertainty rules the other side.
There are many new roads to travel down,
many new trails that wont be easy...
Do you think you can make it?
Do you want to try? - he said.

All of his talk was clearing confusion from my life.
I needed that key. I had to cross this bridge.
"How much for the key?" I asked.
"It's free. The only catch is that you must find another person
to cross over too. Once you have given the key to them, you're
free to travel, " he said.
"But what about you? How long have you been holding the key
for me to come along?" I asked.
"About seven years," he said. "I knew you would come.
It's the 'doing' part that people shy away from...
So, have a good life, and don't follow me -
this is mine."

So, here I sit in the middle of the bridge of life.
Trying to see what's on the new side of the river
while knowing all to well,
the past. . .
"Wanna cross a bridge with me ??? "
